Package: xemacs21 Version: 21.4.17-1 Severity: normal Under /usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp packages for GNU Emacs are located traditionally. Both with compiled and non-compiled Elisp sources. In /etc/xemacs21/site-start.d/00debian.el there is an addition to `load-path' of XEmacs with this directory. As this is added near the front of `load-path' it really causes a lot of trouble.
This makes the problem reported in bug #151900 even worse. For example, suppose you want to maintain separate manual installations of AUCTeX for Emacs and XEmacs. Once you installed the package for Emacs, which will be placed in /usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp, it will be picked up by XEmacs. So you somehow have to get rid of that directory in `load-path'. Once you are done with that and want to install AUCTeX for XEmacs in the site-packages directory, you are at a loss again because as explained in bug #151900 this directory is searched after the xemacs-packages directory. That means you will somehow have to get rid of the Debian customizations _again_. Either by removing the standard AUCTeX installation in xemacs-packages or by fiddling with `load-path' in your init file. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-1-686 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages xemacs21 depends on: ii xemacs21-mule 21.4.17-1 highly customizable text editor -- -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
