According to Micah Cowan (the current upstream Wget maintainer) in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wget/+bug/14950, this bug is fixed in 1.11, and that indeed seems to be true from inspection of 1.11.3-1ubuntu1's manual page. Can this bug be closed?
