If I do a tag-reply (or tag-group-reply) of several messages in the same
thread then mutt only quotes the first message and forgets about the
rest.

Ooops, I resolved it. Sorry it was all my fault. I was using the
vim setup from http://cedricduval.free.fr/mutt and it applies some
special preprocessing of a file if it's located in ~/tmp/mutt and that's
where the cut-off happens.
