Dear Paul Upstream has provided a patch[1] for this issue that I tested and found that it works very well[2], which is now in debian nsis 2.08-3, which I'll be uploading to debian mentors once I can find a fix for the BgImage segfault. Tested the examples again and those worked great.

Dear Paul! None of these can be compiled using the default install, do you still have the System.dll from 2.07 installed? Do the other Linux stubs produce the same result? Any other clues? I'll investigate more tomorrow. Yes, that's true. I use System.dll from 2.08. I compiled

Hi, I tested all of the examples that come with 2.08, and found all of them but 2 or so segfault for various reasons, or fail because of a weird error with the plugin (InstallOptions is one). Therefore, I am leaving this bug as grave. You can read about this on the upstream forums here:

Package: nsis Version: 2.08-2 Followup-For: Bug #319929 InstallOptions.dll is not usable on Windows. The dialog is not coming up. filefunc.exe, logiclib.exe, textfunc.exe and textfunctest.exe produces gpf's when compiled with linux-compiled zlib-stub. Windows stub works. -- System Information:
