Package: awstats
Severity: normal

Hi,

/etc/awstats/awstats.conf finishes like so:

Include /etc/awstats/awstats.conf.local

Since AWStats allows one to specify different config files for different
websites, I tried creating a file /etc/awstats/awstats.foo.conf; this
should then be visible by browsing to
'http://webserver/cgi-bin/awstats?config=foo'.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work since the configuration is incomplete;
it would require me to copy the awstats.conf to awstats.foo.conf, and
start editing the newly created config file. Since I didn't want to do
this, I tried working around the problem by starting awstats.foo.conf
with a line

Include /etc/awstats/awstats.conf

... and then overriding any variables I want to override. Unfortunately,
that doesn't work since awstats (rather, Perl) then complains that it
isn't able to process nested includes.

Perhaps it would be better to rename /etc/awstats.conf to
/etc/awstats.conf.defaults, rename /etc/awstats.conf.local to
/etc/awstats.conf, and to have /etc/awstats.conf start with a line like:

Include /etc/awstats/awstats.conf.defaults

so that one can create a new configuration file by simply copying
/etc/awstats/awstats.conf to a new name, and editing that?
