You are absolutely right, it is a bit messy. I am going to consider this
for the next upload.
In fact, I used module-assistant because I thought that this takes care
of all this, but it is not that easy to use.

I found it difficult to install the realtime module given the (lack of)
instructions provided.
The simplest way seemed to be to obtain and download kernel sources,
make kpkg kernel-image, run module-assistant, then manually copy
