OK, I probably didn't express myself correctly: konqueror per se is not the issue, it's just that if it's installed (or galeon, iceape-browser, etc...) then a firefox user doesn't notice that something is wrong with the mozilla-mplayer package because the dependency is still satisfied, even though it doesn't depend anymore on firefox.
In other words: if mozilla-mplayer would refuse to upgrade (aka conflict with) as long as firefox 1.5 is installed, upgrade path would be clearer. But the best would still be, IMHO, to continue to have the firefox links until etch is released.
