/var/log/cups/page_log only contains entries of jobs coming from other hosts (e.g. Windows 2000 Prof. using directly the 631 Port). However, these entries contain dummy data (such like 1 1), as it was remarked by Kenshi Muto in the reply to #291788. No entry could ever be found of jobs from localhost. I tried 'lp' from console and printed using kprinter. There is no change. Currently I use a Brother HL-2030 with drivers from the Brother home page.
