Justification: breaks the whole system


Upon loading the X Window System (xserver-xorg, specifically), the
system becomes unusable and log files are unable to be read/determined.
Either X, startx or gdm provides this failure.  The problem exists as
well with kernels 2.6.12, 2.6.13 and 2.6.14.

This bug reoccurs everytime.  The system is rendered inoperable at the
userland level.  System responds to network ping but ssh does not work.
Sysrq requests can prevent filesystem damage: SUIESUB.

Disabling PAT results in the same problem.

The system this occurs on is a Toshiba 5105-S501 Pentium4-based laptop
with the following characteristics:
