Package: mgetty-pvftools
Version: 1.1.33-2
Severity: wishlist

The pvftowav utility prints a progress message to stdout;
this is different to the other pvf utilities, which are
silent during normal execution (which makes sense, since
they're usable as filters):

mnementh$ pvftoau </tmp/foo.pvf >/tmp/foo.au
mnementh$ pvftowav </tmp/foo.pvf >/tmp/foo.wav
Writing Wave file: Microsoft PCM format, 1 channel, 8000 samp/sec 8000
byte/sec, 1 block align, 8 bits/samp

I think pvftowav shouldn't print this message by default.
You could have a --verbose switch to enable it if you
wanted (and you could make the other utilities accept
--verbose too).
