Another information: with 3.5.1 it seems to be mostly solved, apart from the aesthetical markup-problem.
The characters are the quick-access keys (konqueror shows this help in the status line); and with 3.5.1 they no longer appear somewhere in the document, but only on links (eg. email addresses).
