ressign 347552 nvidia-graphics-modules-i386
severity 347552 serious
thanks

The nvidia modules are currently useless for up-to-date systems. They do not depend on kernel images, so this might not be a strict policy violation, but IMO this should be changed. See for example spca5xx or pcmcia modules. I discussed the dependency level ideal for these cases on #debian-kernel and a few people agreed that a strict Depends was needed. Manoj Srivastava noted that this was not being useful to people who compile kernels with minor changes and get the same module ABI, but I didn't finish the discussion and IMHO it would be better to be consistent. It may be possible to change the dependency to a virtual package provided by all kernels with the same ABI as the stock kernels, but this is just a quick idea and hasn't been discussed yet. I agree with Steve that this isn't grave, but this must be serious since the package as it stands now is not suitable for release in Etch.
