Subject: random crashes after updates
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.1-1
Severity: important

Please note: this bug *never* appeared in the 0.2.x versions, I first
encountered it a few months ago with the 0.4.x versions entering unstable.
Maybe the 0.3.x versions have this bug too.

Aptitude crashes quite often after my daily update. I start it with "sudo
aptitude" do my daily 'u'-'U'-'g' and aptitude does it's work until the
"press return to continue line". If I press return, aptitude returns to it's
GUI and hangs directly after the my next keystroke. I don't know if it helps
but the most top-left character on the GUI changes from "empty" to
"slash" (If i remember correctly). When aptitude crashes, the GUI freezes and
does not react on keystrokes anymore. You have to kill it on antother
console.

Aptitude crashes not everytime but quite often and always the same way as
described above. It occurs on two different machines running sid.
