Subject: alsa-base: No Sound with Intel 82801DB/DBL/DBM AC'97
Package: alsa-base
Version: 1.0.10-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

*** Please type your report below this line ***

Hi,

I've lost all sound in my system, despite having all the proper snd_
modules loaded:

 lsmod | grep snd
 snd_intel8x0 35488 3
 snd_ac97_codec 98876 1 snd_intel8x0
 snd_ac97_bus 2176 1 snd_ac97_codec
 snd_pcm_oss 55584 1
 snd_mixer_oss 20032 3 snd_pcm_oss
 snd_pcm 95624 3 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss
 snd_timer 26372 1 snd_pcm
 snd 57572 6
 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
 snd_page_alloc 10952 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm

This looks like #348927, but given it was reported for different
hardware, I decided to open a new bug. Maybe they should be merged?

I've tried to get any sound from either the console or GNOME. Playback
"works" in the sense that all applications are happily playing
music/sounds, but of course I get no sound.

I've attached asound.state, as you asked for it for the other bug.

 Thanks!
