When invoking pdftex the -interaction option does not seem to work. Each time I
am taken into "extended mode" and I have to hit RET to finnish my jobs. This
makes batch jobs impossible for me.

Why 'experimental'? pdfTeX version 3.141592-1.21a-2.2, which is part of
teTeX 3.0 has been in unstable for quite some time now. Actually, in a
few days it will go to testing.
