Package: aircrack Version: 2.3-3 Severity: normal Hi.
I've found couple of typos and errors in the manual page. 1. "The channel number is ignored if the source if a capture file." - the second "if" should be "is". 2. The "screenshot" is probably from an older version. Now in the upper row instead of Packets there are Beacons, and instead of IVs there's Data. 3. This whole paragraph should be changed. CONVERTING CAPTURE FILE INTO IVS FILE Example: airodump in.cap out 0 Converts a huge "out.cap" capture file into an "out" ivs file (only useful for later WEP-cracking). First of all that's not conversion but an extraction. Second of all the example is missing "1" at the end. Third of all if there's "in.cap" in the example, there shoud be "in.cap" in the description as well. 4. I think this paragraph isn't clear enough. ANALYSING A CAPTURE FILE Example: airodump in.cap out 0 It doesn't say what kind of analysis is it. I ran it anyway to check. When it finished I saw the info on the screen, and two more files, but they were exact copies of the original ones. OK, you could've deleted the original "txt" file or it was overwritten by a new one when you've resumed dumping the new data, but why does it have to output exactly the same data to the output "cap" file again? The program itself should also check if the the input and the output file are have the same name. You could be misled, because at first sight out.cap and out are different files, but the first one is the actual name and the second one is only the prefix. Running: # airodump out.cap out 0 would've start an infinite loop.
