Package: xdialog
Version: 2.2.0-1

The window that is opened by Xdialog's "dselect" option comes with text
written in the lower box ( the text entry field) .What is written there is the
name of the file contained in the pre-selected directory, if the pre-selected
directory has just a single file. Or the first 7 characters of the name of
some file, if there are 2 files in that pre-selected directory. Or the first
6 characters of the name of some file, if there are 3 or more files in that
pre-selected directory. In any case, when the user presses
OK, the "directory" that will be being chosen will actually NOT be a
directory, but yes the path that was seen in the "selection" appended
with "/NAME_OF_THE_ONLY_FILE" or "/FIRST_CHARACTERS_OF_THE_NAME_OF_SOME_FILE".
The solution is to manually delete what is written in the text entry field.
But that field should come empty by default!
By the way, right above that field there should be either a title or a good
text explaining what it is there for. Can that be done?
It is completely unimaginable to have to explain to every single user
that the text entry field should be "cleaned" before the directory selection
window can be used.
  I am using Debian sarge GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.8.1-kanotix-10, libgtk1.2
1.2.10-17 and libc6 2.3.5-8.
    Thanks in advance,
                       Rugart
