Hi, (I didn't notice this mail at first since you mailed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] rather than 368992-submitter@, and the former isn't sent to a bug's submitter...)
There is no single syscall that takes a lot of time; but it appears to me as if dovecot tries to mmap() every file in the Maildir for each and every mail that it tries to access. This obviously takes a long time. I did find the following in my mail logs: Jun 19 23:38:56 rock dovecot: IMAP(wouter): Corrupted index cache file /mailstore/wouter/.Sent/dovecot.index.cache: field header names corrupted .Sent is one of the folders that does seem to need a long long time to create new mails through IMAP. In response to this, I stopped dovecot, removed all index files from my maildirs, and then restarted the daemon with the mmap_disable option disabled again (i.e., with mmap enabled). However, the issue still seems to exist, while no such messages appear in my logs anymore.
