just found this out. Creating a doxygen comment block (beginning with
/**) inside kate and then pressing Return crashes Kate with the
following backtrace:

severity 381578 important

I don't think that it's a data-loss issue more than any other crash in
an editor, browser, etc., so I don't think it's truly RC.
