Oh, a follow-up comment: I do agree that the analogy with a pdf viewer and a web browser is a perfectly adequate one, but we do have to consider what this analogy means. A PDF viewer and a web browser are IMHO acceptable for main not just because we include free PDFs and html pages in the archive,
