thanks
I attach the log.smbd with log level 10.
OK, thanks a lot. The bug has now been reported upstream.

but when adding a only user = Yes to the [homes] section then the
problem returns.
Wonderful. As the very last request in that thread, could you manage
to produce a level 10 debug output of the panic with this last minimal
smb.conf
After that, promise made, I will leave you alone..:-)

Finally I had time to investigate more closely the bug. This is a
minimal smb.conf that WORKS:
.
# Samba config file created using SWAT
# from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1)
I will try to isolate the specific command giving that error, and I'll
be back...
Great. This will definitely be a great help reporting the Right Thing
to our upstream.

Definitly something in the old smb.conf was wrong. This is my NEW (ie,
working) smb.conf:
...
# Samba config file created using SWAT
# from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1)
# Date: 2006/09/24
It seems that the problem has been solved by:
apt-get --purge remove samba
Reinstalling samba
Configure samba by disabling spnego and large readwrite
Do you have the new smb.conf file, when things are working?

The log I sent yesterday is not enough? If not, I will try to recover
the last configuration and send again the log output.
Hmmm, sorry, I missed that one.

Tried to remove the valid users line and nothing

Now I can access my shares with the pocketpc (though still the
connections hangs after 10-15 minutes, but this seems something different)
Well, we're glad for you but as it seems that some real bug lies
around,

I have installed samba-dbg but the same error appears in
/var/log/samba/log.smbd each time I try to mount the share (two times

Thanks for the detailed information. I have actually no clue exactly
but maybe upstream would...Andrew ?
You should anyway
