Well, i gave this bug a bit of a test.
on a 2.6.18 powerpc/pegasos system, which is mostly etch with sid kernels, i
tested both proposed fixes :
if ! [ -r /proc/1/root -a /proc/1/root/ -ef /proc/self/root/ ]
returned FALSE in both cases (Well, i think i forgot the !, so it

Actually I find that way a little cumbersome. Plus, it will

actually, we will release with kernel 2.6.18. For this reason, we need
to have this bug fixed prior to release of Etch. In other words, this
bug is Release Critical in the sense that we cannot release before this
bug is resolved. So, I'm setting the severity to
