I had the identical crashes. Updating libxklavier10 from 2.2-3 to 2.2-4
resolved it.

Well, since I have upgraded the Etch from august version using the
20061104 one, and the DVD I got here, I assume it was 10_2.2-3
I cannot say it for sure, I must get to my home PC. I will let You know
tomorrow.
