you seem to be reporting exactly the same problem as upstream bug#151
[1]. It is also related to upstream bug#155 [2]. These two bug are
listed with a major priority, so that we can expect them to be fixed

exaile doesn't seem to have a way to configure proxys, nor does it honor the
gnome-configured proxy settings when fetching album covers. However, it does
seem to be able to talk to last.fm just fine.
