Package: kdm Version: 3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5 After a fresh install of etch (testing/frozen) including kde and wmaker, managed by kdm, the startup screen of kdm comes with oversized fonts, spilling over the central window and the space between the symbols at the bottom.
/usr/share/doc/kdm/README.Debian mentions /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc, but attempts to modify the font settings in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc turned out to have no effect, and it remains unexplained whether anything could be done in /etc/defaults/kde.d. Btw, it would be nice if the comments in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc were relevant to the Debian installation - they seem not! - or if at least the beginning of the file would point one to the right place. I also installed wmaker, gnome and twm. (These show up in the kdm menu twice, once in lower case and once capitalized, btw.) Fonts in wmaker seems to get overridden by kdm, because all the fonts are different when started through kdm rather than directly. This also affects applications: e.g., iceape and iceweasel have oversized bold sans serif fonts all over the place (in "File Edit ..." all the toolbars), both in wmaker and also when run in kde (but not when started by startx instead of kdm). Gnome on the other hand was not affected, even when started by kde. (I could not test twm, because the Debian menu was empty and the only thing I could do with twm was to exit...) -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 testing/frozen, fresh install from etch-KDE CD + net ii kde 47 the K Desktop Environment official modules ii wmaker 0.92.0-6.1 NeXTSTEP-like window manager for X ii gnome-desktop- 2.14.3.5 The GNOME Desktop Environment ii twm 1.0.1-4 Tab window manager ii iceape 1.0.7-3 The Iceape Internet Suite -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
