My mistake was to stick with the stable libxrandr2 while trying to
use the unstable xserver-xorg-core, please foregive the unnecessary
confusion. Everything works fine here with unstable xserver-xorg-core
now too.

Like Diego, after upgrading xserver-xorg-core to the unstable version
2:1.3.0.0.dfsg6 everything works ok, using the most recent Lenny
packages (libxrandr2 2:1.2.1-1).
Using i810 (Intel 945GM onboard) on a Core2 Duo.
I did witness the black or white shading problems Peter mentions earlier

I'm very sorry, but this was wrong. It needs a few minutes,
but now I have problems with the configuration (old libxrand2
and old xserver), too which didn't occure before.

hi,
upgrading xserver-xorg-core to the unstable version 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg6
everything works ok for me.
I have the same warnings than Peter, but window shadows are ok, and no
black boxes appears. Also with i810.

xserver-xorg-core 1.3 made compiz start, but with black frames around
windows instead of shadows (Intel i810).
I don't know if it's important, because I don't know what it means,
but it is also there when I start compiz with the old libxr

Hi,
2007/6/5, Brice Goglin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Thanks for finding out that libxrandr causes the breakage. It's kind of
surprising, there are very few calls to xrandr functions in compiz. Do
you by chance see any error/warning in the terminal where you start
compiz (or in .xsession-errors)?
No

I can confirm that compiz works ok dowgrading libxrand2 from 2:1.2.1-1
to the version in etch 2:1.1.0.2-5.
Only libxrandr2 and xbaseclients were downgraded, all the remainding
packages are in the testing versions.
I have nor a nvidia card. This happens also with an i915 and aiglx.

It's libxrandr2 preventing windows update. Noticed this already some
time ago on two different machines having different Nvidia cards, when
.I pulled something from unstable that upgraded this package.
Today I got again this effect when updating testing on yet another
machine but having a Nvidia c

It would be good to locate the exact package that breaks compiz.

Compiz is also broken on my system, with gnome of debian testing.
upgrading compiz to 0.5 from unstable does not solve the problem.
The upgraded libraries on my systems were:
[ELIMINA, NO USADO] libsasl2
[ACTUALIZA] arj 3.10.22-2 -> 3.10.22-3
[ACTUALIZA] aspell-es 1.9-8 -> 1.9-10

Hi,
Given there probably aren't many compiz 0.2.2-1 users in lenny, I'd
thought I'd report this.
I'm using KDE 3.5.5 and compiz worked wonderfully before 02/05/07 where
the libc6 upgrade and a slew of other packages came through.
