Package: scim-bridge-client-gtk Version: 0.4.12-1 Severity: normal Scim-bridge's GTK+ IM module doesn't seem to play well with the "over the spot" style.
In SCIM, the "over the spot" style is set by unset the "Embed Preedit String into client window" in FrontEnd -> Global Setup in scim-setup. With this style, one would expect the candidate string shown in a separate window/widget, instead of inside the application window. This works fine with XIM mode (GTK_IM_MODULE=xim), however scim-bridge seems to ignore this setting and still displays the candidate string in the application window (the "on the spot" style). Attached are screenshots for GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge (scim-bridge.png) and GTK_IM_MODULE=xim (xim.png), in GNOME environment, using scim-pinyin in gnome-terminal. The xim.png shows the desired "over the spot" style, while scim-bridge.png shows the "on the spot" style despite the SCIM setting for using "over the spot" style. This is most likely an upstream issue, but I haven't tested directly compiling the upstream source yet.
