Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.4-4+b1
Followup-For: Bug #431123

The latest aptitude off of unstable now takes approximately 90
seconds to initialize. The message, "Initializing Package States"
appears at the bottom of the terminal, a slowly increasing percentage
appears in the lower right corner, and one of the CPU cores is pegged at
100% usage. This slow process occurs every time aptitude is launched,
and every time the package list is re-built (such as immediately after
installing/upgrading packages).

Once this process is complete, aptitude functions as before.

I have not yet tried any of the 0.4.5 releases.

                                        Schwab
