Package: util-linux
Version: 2.12r-19
Severity: normal

Hi LaMont,

we already discussed this topic briefly in private, so this bug report
is mostly to keep track of this issue and document it publicly.

Development around the old util-linux package, maintained by Adrian
Bunck, has more or less stalled. There is a new initiative called
util-linux-ng [1], [2], where most of the development, also with new
features, is happening. One of the more interesting features (for me as
HAL co-maintainer), is the ability to specify a custom helper command
for mount. This way, you could cleanly unmount partitions, that have
been mounted with HAL, with the unmount command.

Cheers,
Michael
