Hi,

I'm trying to get video off my DV camcorder and eventually
discovered that the kernel switched from the old IEEE 1394
stack to the new one.

The Linux1394 folks explicity state:

Regarding Linux 2.6.22 and 2.6.23, the best advice to Linux
distributors (kernel packagers) as well as to regular users is:
Build only the old IEEE 1394 drivers.

I appreciate that there is said to be some security issue (perhaps
http://securityvulns.com/docs6383.html?) but a local DOS doesn't
bother me nearly as much as an unusable firewire port.

Please reconsider building the old stack until the new stack is no
longer experimental and the userspace catches up.

Thanks,
-Steve
