Any user would expect copy-paste to work between Emacs and other X
apps. This is easily enabled by doing
(setq x-select-enable-clipboard t)
Please add this to the default configuration.

Please take this suggestion upstream to the emacs-devel
We provide stuff in /etc/emacs that does a lot of things, and that's not
considered deviating from documented behaviour. This is more about providing
a sensible default configuration that does what I'm sure any user would
expect in a windowing system. If I can cut and paste between, say, oowrite

Well, it is. But that is to enable the seamless integration of add-on
