Sorry. It was only after your answer that I remembered that I had this
refreshed from the multimedia repository. However, as I unchecked those
repository and reloaded the sources, the latest version shown was still
the one I wrote about. Hence the confusion. After removal of the package
and then reloading the repositories, the version was corrected and I
could update to the debian version which works correctly.
