Be a
Kernels since 2.6.23 (and its release candidates) break with an older
version of aboot.
If you have been upgrading your system from Etch or a version of Lenny
from before about middle of last year you will need to upgrade the aboot
package to the latest, and you may need to manually reinstall
I am experiencing a very similar problem on my XP1000
(EV67-666MHz).
the machine hangs after:
aboot: load compressed vmlinuz...
at this point only a power cycle will revive the box
(pressing the reset button has no effect)
I tried to compile a vanilla 2.6.24 from kernel.org
but it failed in the
tags 473877 moreinfo

has failed to boot with it. I upgraded it to unstable version,
but it also failed to boot.
