Package: squid3 Version: 3.0.PRE5-5 Severity: wishlist
When a redirector or rewriter process in Squid fails, Squid does not log anything returned via stderr by the process to its logs. This makes debugging the problem Very Fun (TM). ie: May 16 14:45:43 granite squid[8684]: WARNING: redirector #13 (FD 21) exited May 16 14:45:43 granite squid[8684]: WARNING: redirector #10 (FD 18) exited May 16 14:45:43 granite squid[8684]: WARNING: redirector #12 (FD 20) exited May 16 14:45:43 granite squid[8684]: Too few redirector processes are running May 16 14:45:43 granite squid[8684]: The redirector helpers are crashing too rapidly, need help! The actual problem for example was for example [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ /usr/local/stuff/rewriter.pl sh: /var/log/uaxel.log: Permission denied Unable to read file /etc/squid3/rewriter.conf at /usr/local/stuff/rewriter.pl line 42. Would be nice if Squid could pass this through to the cache logs... -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-6-686 Locale: LANG=en_ZA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_ZA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages squid3 depends on: ii adduser 3.102 Add and remove users and groups ii coreutils 5.97-5.3 The GNU core utilities ii libc6 2.3.6.ds1-13etch5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libdb4.4 4.4.20-8 Berkeley v4.4 Database Libraries [ ii libgcc1 1:4.1.1-21 GCC support library ii libldap2 2.1.30-13.3 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpam0g 0.79-5 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libsasl2-2 2.1.22.dfsg1-8 Authentication abstraction library ii libstdc++6 4.1.1-21 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii logrotate 3.7.1-3 Log rotation utility ii lsb-base 3.1-23.2etch1 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip ii netbase 4.29 Basic TCP/IP networking system ii squid3-common 3.0.PRE5-5 A full featured Web Proxy cache (H squid3 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
