Happened the same thing as many people on this bug report:
1. Installed etch from DVD.
2. Updated the package list for Etch
# apt-get update
3. Installed the newest versions for everything installed on Etch.
# apt-get dist-upgrade
4. Change sources.list to get packages from Lenny
# sed
