Package: apt-cacher
Version: 1.6.1
Severity: normal

It would be nice if apt-cacher could cache the necessary repository
details for redhat/rpm/yum etc, as well. Looking through
/usr/sbin/apt-cacher, it seems to already support .rpm files[1].
Perhaps it would be nice if .hdr files, and primary.xml.gz (or all
.xml.gz?) also worked.

If done, you'd want to mention rpm in the package description too, to
make it easier to apt-cache search.

(incidentally, there may also be a want for caching .exe files as per
http://polibyte.com/blog/change_filetypes_cached_by_apt-cacher . I've
formed no firm view on this. )

[1] I haven't yet tried to see how effective it is -- I need to
convince my boss to let debian into our workplace first, and if
apt-cacher can cache redhat repository stuff, then that would be a
good start.
