I reported my crash when adding a SIP buddy in a group:

However I don't know whether it is the same bug because you don't tell
if you added the contact to a group.

I can reproduce a crash when I add a SIP buddy in a group, but just
adding a SIP buddy in the roaster does not crash. Is it the same for
you?

I can reliably crash empathy when adding a buddy to a SIP account. This
is reproducable with two different SIP accounts and different buddies.
It does not crash the sip telepathy provider, just the
