I created a symbolic link in /usr/share/sear from sear-media-0.6 to
sear-media-0.7 That gave me the splash image, or background, as shown
on the web page you linked. I tried a couple other things before this,
and they didn't have any apparent effect. I tried setting
severity 489610 grave

I've tried to play this game, and think it's unusable or mostly
so in its current state.
Character creation is required, but seems to be impossible. I
haven't played before, so created a new account on the pop
server, and reached the character creation screen
