Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal The monotone package FTBFS on alpha and ia64, due to testsuite failures which indicate that the package's principal executable is totally broken on those architectures. Upstream believes the root cause to be bugs in the toolchain rather than in the program itself, but does not have the resources to investigate the problem in detail, and neither do I. Thus, I believe it best to drop the package on those architectures.
To be 100% clear, I am requesting the removal of these binary packages only: monotone_0.40-5_alpha.deb monotone_0.39-1_ia64.deb The FTBFSes are filed as bugs 464884 (alpha) and 484749 (ia64). Note that version 0.40-5 built "successfully" on alpha only because of a second bug in debian/rules that masked the testsuite failures; the binary in that package is just as broken as every other alpha build in some time. The reverse-dependencies of monotone are: monotone-server, monotone-doc -- arch:all, built from the monotone source package, installable on other architectures where 0.40-7 built fine tailor, qct, ikiwiki -- all three of these can be used with several VCSes; the dependency is one of several alternatives, and except for qct, is a Recommends or Suggests. monotone-viz -- operates on monotone databases but does not require monotone itself to do so; the dependency is a Recommends. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
