We are also experiencing the same issue, and it's a rather big deal.
The majority of the time, the problem manifests itself with a nautilus process, continuously writing to this file ring buffer, after a user has logged out. I'm guessing this results from gdm trying to kill off the process when a user logs off? We've enabled a gdm PostSession script that kills any lingering nautilus processes.
In a few cases, we've seen active users with runaway nautilus processes as well.
I'm in the process of downgrading nautilus on all of our workstations to the etch version, to see if the problem persists there. I'd be happy to lend a hand debugging this issues, as we have MANY machines experiencing the problem and it's absolutlely killing our NFS servers.
