Package: kernel-package Version: 11.002 Severity: grave First off, thanks for whipping kernel-package into shape for the release! Now the issue..
I just upgraded my ia64 workstation to an image from linux-2.6_2.6.26-8, and was presented with a debconf screen that shows some detection problems with the elilo bootloader. The "$loader" string in the template does not appear to get updated. (I'll provide a link to a screenshot image once a bug number is assigned) The nasty part is that - even though my system is configured to run elilo without prompting - elilo doesn't run and my system is left booting the old kernel. Though a careful user may notice the message warning them that elilo has not run, I expect there's a significant number of users who wouldn't know that they need to take an action (or what that action might be). This puts them at a risk of unknowingly running kernels with open security issues, which is my justification for the RC severity. buildd.debian.org shows that kernel-package_11.002 is what was used to build this package, so that's what I'm using for the version pseudoheader. I don't know if this existed in earlier versions or was fixed since, but I didn't see anything in the changelog that looked to be related. -- dann frazier -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
