hi, while normally i'd say having variable-width fonts in a gui interface is a Good Thing, there are times where it is desirable to have fixed width fonts. for example, if someone was doing column-oriented output, or in the case which motivated this bug report, viewing the output of diff in a text view (see attached). Just shooting from the hip, i guess an easy way to do so would be to have a new "Type: code" or similar, which is treated like "note" in all text oriented frontends, and given fixed-width treatment in the gui frontends. sean - -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages debconf depends on: ii debconf-i18n 1.5.24 full internationalization support ii perl-base 5.10.0-16 minimal Perl system Versions of packages debconf recommends: ii apt-utils 0.7.16 APT utility programs Versions of packages debconf suggests: ii debconf-doc 1.5.24 debconf documentation ii debconf-utils 1.5.24 debconf utilities ii gnome-utils 2.20.0.1-3 GNOME desktop utilities ii libgnome2-perl 1.042-1+b1 Perl interface to the GNOME librar pn libnet-ldap-perl <none> (no description available) pn libqt-perl <none> (no description available) pn libterm-readline-gnu-perl <none> (no description available) ii perl 5.10.0-16 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii whiptail 0.52.2-11.3 Displays user-friendly dialog boxe - -- debconf information excluded -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFJCiKBynjLPm522B0RAnKgAJ9udDQi8msNZUQIMuWHJ51rDcgcnQCdFmpp qck9KrtI+fMQDgDm3SZtTr8= =Va6L -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
