Package: libglib2-ruby1.8 Version: 0.17.0~rc1-6 Severity: important Tags: patch
Using /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mkmf-gnome2.rb from the libglib2-ruby1.8 package fails with the error message /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mkmf-gnome2.rb:12:in `require': no such file to load -- mkmf (LoadError) from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/mkmf-gnome2.rb:12 unless the package ruby1.8-dev, which provides the required mkmf.rb file, is already installed. Tagged 'important' because people not familiar with ruby installing ruby software via a 'ruby extconf.rb' mechanism might fail to understand why their ruby installation is broken. suggested patch: package libglib2-ruby1.8 should include ruby1.8-dev as an install dependency. [note: this patch is just a suggestion, i am totally unfamiliar with ruby, and Debian practices; maybe it is considered better to move mkmf.rb to another package instead of creating a dependency of a non-dev package on a -dev package, or whatever] -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libglib2-ruby1.8 depends on: ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libruby1.8 1.8.7.72-3 Libraries necessary to run Ruby 1. libglib2-ruby1.8 recommends no packages. libglib2-ruby1.8 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- NUR NOCH BIS 31.01.!
