Hello, and thanks for Debian. Years ago I made an iRiver IFP-590T work for a friend of mine (using sid). It is a music player accessed by USB but it's not using USB Mass Storage firmware. It uses "managed" firmware which allows a little more functionality and has a driver. She stopped using it it for some time and recently told she's tried again and it no longer works. I checked and saw that it her user (in plugdev group) did not have permissions for the device, but root had. I found some lines in /etc/udev/rules.d/91-permissions.rules assigning group plugdev for iRiver devices, but they seemed to be outdated. I added some other lines and now it works. I'm not sure I know what I'm doing but it works for us now, so I leave it here and inform the maintainers in case they want to consider to add the lines or fixing it somehow else. Old lines were SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", GROUP="plugdev", \ ATTRS{idVendor}=="4102", ATTRS{idProduct}=="10[01][135789]" and I added SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device", GROUP="plugdev", \ ATTRS{idVendor}=="4102", ATTRS{idProduct}=="10[01][135789]" ...s'està ometent 53 línies /sys/block/hda/hda1/dev /sys/block/hda/hda2/dev /sys/block/hda/hda3/dev /sys/block/hda/hda5/dev /sys/block/hdc/dev /sys/block/ram0/dev /sys/block/ram10/dev /sys/block/ram11/dev /sys/block/ram12/dev /sys/block/ram13/dev /sys/block/ram14/dev /sys/block/ram15/dev /sys/block/ram1/dev /sys/block/ram2/dev /sys/block/ram3/dev /sys/block/ram4/dev /sys/block/ram5/dev /sys/block/ram6/dev /sys/block/ram7/dev /sys/block/ram8/dev /sys/block/ram9/dev /sys/class/cpuid/cpu0/dev /sys/class/input/input0/event0/dev /sys/class/input/input1/event1/dev /sys/class/input/input2/event2/dev /sys/class/input/input2/mouse0/dev /sys/class/input/mice/dev /sys/class/misc/agpgart/dev /sys/class/misc/fuse/dev /sys/class/misc/hpet/dev /sys/class/misc/psaux/dev /sys/class/misc/snapshot/dev /sys/class/ppdev/parport0/dev /sys/class/printer/lp0/dev /sys/class/sound/adsp/dev /sys/class/sound/audio/dev /sys/class/sound/controlC0/dev /sys/class/sound/dsp/dev /sys/class/sound/mixer/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D0c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D0p/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D1c/dev /sys/class/sound/seq/dev /sys/class/sound/sequencer2/dev /sys/class/sound/sequencer/dev /sys/class/sound/timer/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev1.1/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev1.3/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev1.9/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev2.1/dev /sys/class/usb_device/usbdev3.1/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.1_ep00/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.1_ep81/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.3_ep00/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.3_ep81/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.9_ep00/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.9_ep03/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev1.9_ep83/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev2.1_ep00/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev2.1_ep81/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev3.1_ep00/dev /sys/class/usb_endpoint/usbdev3.1_ep81/dev -- Kernel configuration: isapnp_init not present. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21usbaudio1 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=ca_ES, LC_CTYPE=ca_ES (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages udev depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libselinux1 2.0.65-5 SELinux shared libraries ii libvolume-id0 0.125-7 libvolume_id shared library ii lsb-base 3.2-20 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip udev recommends no packages. udev suggests no packages. -- debconf information: udev/new_kernel_needed: false udev/reboot_needed:
