I also had this problem, but I somehow solved it by downgrading gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad from version 0.10.11-2 to 0.10.10.3-1. Same issue is also making totem-gstreamer crash, which was also solved by the same solution. pfalc...@paolo-1310:~$ dpkg -l gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad pidgin
