Hi Sean ,
I tried all the options you suggested. They all introduce a nice
improvement, I can now minimize the windows, and the nice geany effect
works. However, I can't move any of them around or resize them.
Here is the out put you requested
~$ dpkg -l '*compiz*'
Hi Julian,
Thanks for your reply.
Here is what I came up with:
Bizarrely, there is no dependency
mentioned, and yet this was the entire problem: upgrading this package
from 0.7.6-1 to 0.8.2-1 solved the problem for me.
I didn't even have this package installed ! So I grabbed it and
install it.
Me too. Attached are my xorg.conf, the X log, glxinfo. Just upgraded
to compiz 0.8.2-6 and found this problem. The messages that compiz
--replace gives are:
Checking for Xgl: not present.
Detected PCI ID for VGA: 00:02.0 0300: 8086:2592 (rev 04) (prog-if 00

I think I've found the problem: compizconfig-backend-gconf 0.8.2-1 has
not yet migrated to testing. Bizarrely, there is no dependency
mentioned, and yet this was the entire problem: upgrading this package
from 0.7.6-1 to 0.8.2-1 solved the problem for me.
So there is a dependency or conflict
Package: compiz
Version: 0.8.2-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

If you downgrade xserver-xorg-core, you want to downgrade
libgl1-mesa-dri as well.
