Again looking at the issue, this's what's supposed to happen.
A sound server is supposed to resolve this problem.

As far as I know, this problem is with knotify4, I faced this when
playing SOF with OSS emulation.
Killing knotify4 once solves the problem.

The bug is a bit old, so could you pleas try with new version of KDE (4.8.4 in
testing) ? If no answer, I will close the bug in a month.
