Package: dhcp3-server
Version: 3.1.3-1
Severity: normal

I thought the bug was in the LDAP related patch but after burning two hours of
debugging time[1] I found that there is a bug in the failover code. When
setting up DHCP servers you might want to deploy the service in a failover'd
state[2].

Turns out when you do this the leases the lonesome DHCP server dishes out
has a lease lifetime set to zero; causing no end of troubles at the client
end with a "no expiry time on offered lease." error message.

Obviously one solution is "do not deploy a reduced failed-over setup",
however it's a bug that should be squished and the usual lease times should
be pushed out; failing that at lease some warning in the logfiles or maybe
in the documentation.

Cheers

dhcpd.conf file and run the dhcpd-noldap daemon off it
