Dear Maintainer,
This bug is still present in the current version of avahi-daemon. In my case,
the delay introduced by the 'host -t soa local.' of avahi-daemon-check-dns.sh is
exactly of 10 seconds, always. I've patched the script

On my system, the boot is delayed by about 30 seconds. I am using
systemd and ifup happens after about 10 seconds. Then, the whole
system waits for some timeout. I have set AVAHI

this script is linked from /etc/network/if-post-down.d/avahi-daemon too,
it is delaying my shutdown sequence for about 30 seconds (2 network
interfaces, taking about 15 seconds each)
Boot process is delayed too, but

While I don't experience such huge delays as Fabian, avahi-daemon-check-dns.sh
still
delays ifup a bit (adds ~0.2s to total time). Attached simple patch moves check
to the
background thus making ifup faster while not breaking any

Hi,
the script "/usr/lib/avahi/avahi-daemon-check-dns.sh" is called during the boot
sequence from "/etc/network/if-up.d/avahi-daemon". At some point the script
reaches a call to "LC_ALL=C host -t soa local." which times out after some fiv
