Package: apcupsd Version: 3.14.4-1lenny1 Severity: normal
In ReleaseNotes.gz, it is reported that: In 3.14.x, MASTER/SLAVE mode has been removed and the associated configuration directives are now obsolete. Please see the Apcupsd manual for a very simple NIS networking configuration to replace MASTER/SLAVE. However, the man page for apcupsd reports at least the following obsolete information: UPSCLASS -- <class of operation> [ standalone | shareslave | sharemaster ] and [ netslave | netmaster ] are valid types. [ standalone | netslave | netmaster ] are tested classes. [ shareslave | sharemaster ] classes are being tested. NETPORT -- <TCP|UDP port number> MASTER -- <name of master> for Slave machine. The name of the master which is authorized to send commands to this slave. SLAVE -- <name of slave(s)> for Master machine. The name of the slave machine attached to the master. There can be max. 20 slaves attached to one master. Many of the above directives will result in syntax errors if put into a Lenny apcupsd.conf file. Moreover, there is no documentation in the man page referring to the directives that replace the obsolete directives mentioned above: NETSERVER on NISIP 0.0.0.0 NISPORT 3551 -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.4 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apcupsd depends on: ii libc6 2.7-18lenny2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libsnmp15 5.4.1~dfsg-12 SNMP (Simple Network Management Pr ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-15+lenny6 SSL shared libraries ii libwrap0 7.6.q-16 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra Versions of packages apcupsd recommends: ii apcupsd-doc 3.14.4-1lenny1 APC UPS Power Management (document Versions of packages apcupsd suggests: ii apcupsd-cgi 3.14.4-1lenny1 APC UPS Power Management (web inte ii hal 0.5.11-8 Hardware Abstraction Layer ii udev 0.125-7+lenny3 /dev/ and hotplug management daemo -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
